Bio

Rose McGowan is an American actress and activist. Her first feature was a brief role in the comedy Encino Man (1992), which starred Sean Astin and Brendan Frasier. She achieved recognition for her performance in the dark comedy The Doom Generation (1995), receiving an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance. Her breakthrough came with in Wes Craven’s Scream (1996) and subsequently headlined the films Going All the Way (1997) with Rachel Weisz and Ben Affleck, Devil in the Flesh (1998), and Jawbreaker (1999), alongside Rebecca Gayheart, Julie Benz, and Judy Greer.

During the 2000s, McGowan became known to television audiences for her role as Paige Matthews in The WB supernatural drama series Charmed, which co-starred Holly Marie-Combs and Alyssa Milano. McGowan starred alongside Brendan Fraser, Bridget Fonda, and Whoopi Goldberg in Henry Selick’s dark fantasy comedy Monkeybone (2001), as a cat girl from a limbo-like carnival landscape where nightmares are entertainment. She went on to star in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's double-feature film Grindhouse (2007), in Rodriguez's segment, Planet Terror, for which she was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Actress and the Scream Award for Best Scream Queen.

McGowan’s other projects include the feature film Conan the Barbarian (2011) with Jason Momoa, TV series Nip/Tuck, Once Upon a Time, Chosen, the voice of Medusa in Ultimate Spider-Man, and Lilith in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
